 Basic Vocal Methods

An overview of the voice ‘Breath control, warm ups, note reproduction voicing.

Twice weekly exercises.

Learning simple melodies, vocal range

 Melodic line, phrasing advance breath control, diction.

 Song -craft  basic

 Analysis of songs. Learning a song from start to finish.

word play, end of line rules, cliché control /avoidance,

Phrase invention. Song structure

 song craft , advanced

 Serious writing technique, motive freshening. Melodic “arches” and “pivots” The "hook". Spoken word pointers. Various Forms and Genres

Stretching a word for emphasis, use of repetion.

 Performance skills

 Stage craft. Set list planning, Tech details ,Projection, Engagement

 End of module group performance at a real venue

 Student’s shows case their work and try promoting a gig to their friends and family. Covering all aspects of venue dealings ,logistics, EQs,  amp and PA wrangling. Probably Café 121 in Ponsonby, or possibly The Wine cellar in K’RD
